Our site crashed after installing the Wordfence 7.3.4 update, and gave us this message any time we tried to access the site:

Fatal error: require(): Failed opening required ‘/home/stemmath/public_html/wp-content/plugins/wordfence/lib/../modules/login-security/wordfence-ls.php’ (include_path=’.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php’) in /home/stemmath/public_html/wp-content/plugins/wordfence/lib/wordfenceClass.php on line 49

I could not even log in through wp-admin. Removing the wordfence plugin through File Manager in the cPanel fixed the site.

Is there a problem with the update, or a known compatibility issue?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hey @sworden,

Do you have any cache plugins on the site? If so, can you try clearing the cache before reenabling Wordfence?

    Thanks,

    Gerroald,

Not that I can see. The only activated plugins we have installed are:
    Contact Bank
    Contact Form 7
    Display PHP Version
    UpdraftPlus – Backup/Restore
    WooThemes Helper
    WP Performance Score Booster

    Thanks,
    Stephanie

    Hey @sworden,

You might need to speak with your host about helping you clear the cache. The path in the error is from version 7.3.2 and doesn’t exist any longer. This is why you’re getting the error when trying to install/update to 7.3.4. I’m certain once we can figure out what’s cached and clear it the error will be resolved.

Please reach out to your host and let me know what they say.

    Thanks,

    Gerroald
