• Just wanted to update your wp plugin and theme, and just letting you know, that if you update the plugin from Ocean Extra V 2.0.2 to 2.0.3, before the theme from 3.3.3 to 3.3.4 – then the sites crashes, since there are then redeclarations of your typography functions.
Might want to add some “function_exists” functions to check that.
I had to remove your functions from the theme, and only after that i could access the site again and update the theme.

After the update of the theme, everything worked fine again.

  • I’ve just had this as well. Updated the theme, and now the site cannot load!

An error of type E_ERROR was caused in line 128 of the file /home/sites/3b/d/de7735dff3/public_html/wp-content/themes/oceanwp/inc/customizer/controls/typography/webfonts.php. Error message: Cannot redeclare oceanwp_webfonts_enqueue() (previously declared in /home/sites/3b/d/de7735dff3/public_html/wp-content/plugins/ocean-extra/includes/compatibility/ocean.php:94)

@leecollings I fixed it, by going in through FTP and removing the typography functions in the theme file /themes/oceanwp/inc/customizer/controls/typography/webfonts.php
(basically, anything from line 127 and down)

after that you can access the site again, and update the theme, which will fix what you just removed.

    NOTE:
Just saw, that you said you updated the theme – but this error should be about updating the plugin first.
Because those lines does not exist in the new theme version.

I also notified their support about this error.

Nothing is corrupt, you just have duplicated functions if you have the newest ocean Extra, and the second-newest theme version.
You could have made checks in your plugin functions to see if the typography functions were already declared, but you didn’t.
That is what caused this error.

    @stender89 ,
I apologize for the issue. The dev team already looking into the issue and a fixed version will released today.

For now, First upgrade the OceanWP to version 3.3.4 and then updating Ocean Extra to version 2.0.3. Don’t do it in reverse order, it could crash your website.

I’ve had to disable Ocean Extra on all three sites. Even with OceanWP 3.3.4 (downloaded from my membership site), updating/upgrading Ocean Extra crashes.

@darthmom , I would request you to please upgrade the theme and plugin manually.

Interesting. I downloaded the theme from the repository and the plugin. When uploading the theme via cPanel files, I get a warning that the theme contains a virus.

I also downloaded a copy of the latest theme from my OceanWP account online and got the same warning.

Here is an image of the warning: https://www.screencast.com/t/1pn9paiz7

Also, the Ocean WP theme on my server is the latest version already anyway and uploading a copy of the Ocean Extra manually and activating it takes the site down.

    Hello!

    Same problem here:

E_ERROR found at line 236 of /var/www/html/care.gr/wp-content/themes/oceanwp/inc/customizer/controls/typography/webfonts.php. Error code: Cannot redeclare oceanwp_get_local_webfonts_css_data_dir() (previously declared in /var/www/html/care.gr/wp-content/plugins/ocean-extra/includes/compatibility/ocean.php:203)

    Thanks!

    Hello @darthmom,

Your scanner is reading the minified js files as duplicates (example.js and example.min.js), thus throwing a false positive report.

There are absolutely no viruses in the theme, which you can check too: https://www.virustotal.com/gui/file/d42c143c64448033faeb50977e17a64e28b2a1b0362354c2144e82272d9eefa4

    Hello!

manually update the theme (upload from WP admin – replace the existed theme) fixed the major problem (Site crash).

However (Google) fonts Typography problem is still here. Site cannot display (Google) fonts.

Hope that it will be fixed with the hot-fix you are preparing.

    Thanks!

To everyone experiencing problems, we started working on the problem as soon as it was reported so we’ll release an update to Ocean Extra plugin soon.

In the meantime, if anyone needs to rollback, there are previous versions available:
    https://docs.oceanwp.org/article/797-oceanwp-rollback-versions

    https://docs.oceanwp.org/article/800-ocean-extra-rollback-versions

We announced an update a week ago and always post about precaution measures (backups, testing updates on a staging or test environments, etc), because we will never be in the position to replicate all use cases and environments. We advise this no matter what setup you are running, as it’s the best practice.

Thanks to everyone who reported the problem and sorry if you experienced issues on your live sites.

The update will be released as soon as possible

Yes . Even after fixing it, google fonts are not showing up

    Hello Everyone,

Thank you for reaching out to us, and very sorry for the inconvenience.

The issue has already been resolved, and we’ve released a new version of Ocean Extra 2.0.4: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/ocean-extra.

If you’re unable to access your website backend, please make sure to update OceanWP theme either through FTP/sFTP or your hosting panel.

Download the latest versions for both from WordPress and update manually: https://www.ads-software.com/themes/oceanwp

If you are updating through your hosting panel and the hosting panel reports an error because it’s reading minified js files as file duplicates, please update using FTP/sFTP.

?If you have been using the option to Host Google Fonts Locally, please make sure to reenable settings if needed (uncheck then check again) via Customize > Typography > General.

Clear browser / website / cloud cache. In case you continue to experience problems ie Google fonts are not displayed when using this option or load from the Google site. Make sure to regenerate the files by clearing data via WP Dashboard, OceanWP > OceanWP Panel > Admin Settings.
    ?
Please recheck your issue and keep us posted,
    Thank you.
    Best Regards
