Hello. I just ran a restore from a backup dated Jan 6th and the restore seemed to complete successfully. It was a full restore (db, plugins, etc.) as there had not been any changes (except updates) on the site since that date and every individual restore was ticked and shown as completed.

When I view the site and try and get into the wp-admin section I get the following: There has been a critical error on this website. Please check your site admin email inbox for instructions.

I do have another backup from elsewhere however I need to get into the wp admin to run this. Is there a simple fix at all without reinstalling WP and rebuilding?

    Many thanks

    Hi,

Can you please send us full copy of the restoration log?
You can find this log in the ‘wp-content/updraft’ directory of your site via FTP.
You can send the log file and copy the contents into an online tool (such as https://pastebin.com/ )

    Hi Bryle,

Thanks for the reply and looking into this. There were two logs that seemed relevant and I have pasted one into https://pastebin.com/iDkatqGg

Since logging the initial issue I have reinstalled WordPress and managed to get back into the dashboard and the site back up and running. I do have Updraft Plus installed on other sites so am very keen to find out what the problem was.

Please let me know if you require anything else.

    Much appreciated.
    Thanks, Ken

    Hi Ken,

    thank you!

I don’t see any problems based on the log.
Can you try to temporarily deactivate caching and security plugins? We strongly suggest to temporarily deactivate these plugins prior to restoration/migration as it is known to cause issues.

    Best wishes,

    Hi Bryle,

I was in a bit of a panic last night and actually reinstalled the core WordPress files in an attempt to get back into the dashboard. This allowed me back in and I am up and running again.

I have a test site which I am going to use over the next couple of days to test the backup and restore using Updraft as this did worry me somewhat and I cannot confirm where the problem was either.

Many thanks for your assistance with this and I will update this later today/tomorrow with my findings.

    Kind regards,
    Ken
