site down after wpcontent change permissions

  • changed the permissions although they didnt go through of wp-content..

    then site went dead
    HTTP Error 500 (Internal Server Error): An unexpected condition was encountered while the server was attempting to fulfil the request.

    tried to go from 755 to 777

    please help
