Site down: Fatal error: Cannot redeclare get_users_of_blog()

    Hi,

    My self-hosted WP site is down.

    Here is how it happened:

    First I updated 2 plugins (akismet & top-commentators-widget)

    I simply tried to update WP core:
    https://www.mincirsainement.fr/wp-admin/update-core.php

    If remember well I was 3.0.3 and wanted to update to 3.1

    The result is that the site down with this error message:

    Fatal error: Cannot redeclare get_users_of_blog() (previously declared in /homez.93/db/www/wp-includes/user.php:341) in /homez.93/db/www/wp-includes/deprecated.php on line 2441

    Thank you in advance to tell me of to fix this issue.

    Your upgrade did not complete successfully. Try:
    – switching to the Twenty Ten theme by renaming your current theme’s folder in wp-content/themes using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides. You may need to try logging into your site to get this to kick in fully.

    – resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress.

    – re-running the upgrade manually using wp-admin/upgrade.php.

    Hi esmi,

    Thanks.

    I am going to rename my wp-content/themes folder into wp-content/themes-old through FTP.

    After this, I will install the twentyten theme
    (https://www.ads-software.com/extend/themes/twentyten)
    in the fresh wp-content/themes folder

    I will keep you informed.

    No! Just rename your current theme’s folder inside wp-content/themes.

    Try:

    I just did that with the theme I think I was using before crashing my site.

    You may need to try logging into your site to get this to kick in fully.

    It is not yet possible to login.

    – resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin.

    done too by FTP

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress.

    Do you mean I have to delete everything & then reuploading except the wp-content folder?

    – re-running the upgrade manually using wp-admin/upgrade.php.
