Site Down / Pointing Domain Name to Server
-
Hello all,
I’ve been having the worst time with trying to fix my site for the past two weeks. I nor any visitor has access to my site (it says ‘This Site Cannot Be Reached’ and that the DNS server could not be found). I contacted my host (Site Ground) and I was told that they can not help me because I did not purchase my domain name with them and it isn’t transferred there, so there’s not much they can do. I was told to contact my domain registrar.
A little background info: I first got my domain name on WordPress.com back in 2011. I then transferred my site to Site Ground 2 years ago.
I asked someone at WordPress.com about my issue, again I was told that I could not be help and that I should contact my host.
I went back to Site Ground to speak to someone else. The guy was really nice and tried to assist me, but of course still couldn’t do much because of my domain registrar (which is ‘Automattic’, I guess)
Can someone assist me here? I contacted Automattic with little hope because their website says that I won’t be receiving a response for several weeks. I don’t really know what to do from here.
I was emailed by a random guy and told to google how to point my domain name to a server, and I did but the first step is the one I can’t complete, which is logging in to my domain registrar’s website and changing the domain’s name server. This isn’t possible on Automattic, or WordPress.com most likely because my site was transferred?
I’m not sure. How can I get my site back up and running?
PS: Forgive my ignorance. I know nothing about this stuff.
