I successfully install MU plugin and i get the super admin tools.
When i create a new site, data base is updated and i see a new site in administration tools, but the corresponding folder is not created, and i imagine that is because of writting rigth of htdoc folder.

I dont know how change it, and i’m forced to work at root “/” because of multi-site.

Is there a way to change htdoc writting rigth or any other solution to permit Word Press to create a new folder in htdoc folder?

    Thanks

  • Is the installation local or are you using a remote server?
If it is local witch OS and version are you using?

I’ll take a look to your link, thanks.

To expose all process, when i create a new site from Super Admin tools, there are no errors or warning message.
But then when i try to “visit” this new site, i get a “page not found”.
It’s seem that the site folder corresponding to the new site is not created and i dont understand why.

I tried to change my .htaccess but no change.

    Sorry for my language ??

Humm, i just do the first case of
    this tutorial

    (folder installation) and it works.

I think i just do a mistake when i tried to configure as in third case (multi-domain).
It’s can be done locally whit XAMPP or it must be do with distant server? I think i missed something.

Sub domain installations can be really tricky, because they mess up with DNS. I usually use sub-folder because the link will only depend on one name, so this could be the solution.
To use as sub-domain you should follow this recipe

Site folder not created when creating new site with MU plugin

There is no actual folder to be created. They’re virtual, JUST like how you don’t actually have /2013/10/10/postname as a folder ??

    What’s in the .htaccess?

Folders are virtual indeed but the rights to create temp folders and files are needed for WordPress to operate properly

Yeah, but the rights to create those folders ONLY impacts the ability to upload images. We’re not even there yet ??

When i create a new site, data base is updated and i see a new site in administration tools, but the corresponding folder is not created, and i imagine that is because of writting rigth of htdoc folder.

I took that to mean “When I create a site (i.e. ‘foobar’) there is no domain.com/foobar folder on my server.”

Which is correct, and endemic of a .htaccess issue.

Ok, you are rigth, i didnt really handle sub-site creation process.
Now with m’y last try, its just the gap between new site and domain mapping (as the third case) where i have some trouble.
Really thanks for your help and explanation!
And sorry for my language, i’m french, i do my best ??

You’re welcome and you handled the English very well ??

    Hello Everyone,

I have been trying to create WordPress Multisite with different domians.
    How can i achieve that?

    For Example :

    My Current website is: https://www.domain.com
What wordpress multisite provide us is to create:
    https://www.domain.com/subdomain

But i want to create 4 different website from one admin panel.
    i.e 1) https://www.domain.com
    2) https://www.domain1.com
    3) https://www.domain2.com
    4) https://www.domain3.com

Super admin will handle all the above websites.
And he will be able to create or delete users.

And Domain mapping is not helping in this.
What domain mapping do is it redirects the url: https://www.domain.com/subdomain to any external website.

But super admin is not able to handle the users of external website..

    Thanks in advance.
