Site hacked by FaLCoN on Monday

  • At some point on Monday (12/07/09) my site was hacked by someone who identified themselves as FaLCoN with the email address [email protected]. They replaced the index page with one of their own. I contacted my hosting company who were able to restore my index page and the site appears to be operating properly though my admin password is no longer valid.

    Tech support at the hosting company claims that the hacker gained access through a security hole in kres.php in the wp-includes directory. They also suggested I upgrade to the latest version of WordPress but I’m already running 2.8.6.

    Has anyone else had the same experience?
