• ok, so I went to my site tonight, and it has been hacked.
    https://urbanmom.net

so, I try to login to wordpress to fix it, and turns out that my username has been changed…………..

I opened my ftp, and tried looking for the file to change, etc, and I have no idea.

Please, does anyone know how I can get my site back to normal, and make it so that I don’t get hacked again?

Also, I don’t know of any enemies online, so how did this happen to me?

    Thanks, Jen

  • Some people have a lot of free time … and nothing to do in life …

Contact your hosting company and tell them about the problem .

maybe your password was easy to guess …

    thanks for saying something!!

also, I noticed that about 2 months worth of entries are gone

your host should have a recent backup of your blog ??

And you can reset your WP password with these instructions: https://www.tamba2.org.uk/wordpress/phpmyadmin/

Lastly, all the web hosts I’ve seen who provide mySQL allow you to back up the database, but I wonder how many people actually do that.

    It’s important.

That should be part of the hosting plan, I know I am with https://www.crystaltech.com, and backups are done in the morning and the evening and throughout the night. To request it you either send a support email or go into the control and request it through there.

MAIN thing is report it to your ISP , they may be able to track down where the other person came from. But like already mentioned some people have nothing better to do.

When making a password always use something alpha numeric
i.e. tiny41nurs3009, you get the point.

This has happened again to the exact same site.

I am the one who hosts tinynurse. I host her on a reseller account and I have contacted the company which I have the reseller though. There is no other sites which are effected with this “Mr. Red Virus Hacker” This has me totally baffled.

I do have back-up’s and have recently, deleted her account, then set it back up again, installed WordPress for tinynurse, used alpha numeric passwords which were at least 8 characters long. Yet this happened again.

If anyone could point me towards a solution that would be great. I have already contacted my host, and I am demanding that this all gets sorted out and fixed.
