I built a site for a client locally and used wp migration (pro version) to migrate to the live site. 2 Days later I got an email from wordpress saying “Your Site is Experiencing a Technical Issue” as the title and email starts with

WordPress has a built-in feature that detects when a plugin or theme causes a fatal error on your site, and notifies you with this automated email.

In this case, WordPress caught an error with one of your plugins, All-in-One WP Migration.

I went to the site to check it out and it was completely replaced with a japanese store website selling kitchen gear. I logged into the admin and it had zero css. I located plugins to turn them all off and it redirected me to a 404 page. Same when I tried to go into users. I ended up removing the site completely. I did a quick search and sa that wp migration was hacked back in August. is this related to that? What can I do? I just purchased it but now im afraid to use the product.

    Hello arcinjuan,

I’m sorry to hear about the trouble you’ve encountered. However, it appears the issue you’re experiencing is not related to the All-in-One WP Migration plugin itself. Our plugin is rigorously tested and maintained, and we ensure it is secure. The symptoms you describe suggest that there may have been other security weaknesses on the site. I recommend reviewing the security of your site using the guidelines provided by WordPress here: https://www.ads-software.com/documentation/article/faq-my-site-was-hacked/. This documentation can help identify and fix vulnerabilities.

    Hello billyqureshi,

I understand your concerns about security. It’s important to note, however, that the All-in-One WP Migration plugin has not been linked to the issues of malware or hacking you mentioned. Security in WordPress is multifaceted and often requires looking at several components including hosting environment, themes, and other plugins. For steps on how to secure your site, please refer to this WordPress guide: https://www.ads-software.com/documentation/article/faq-my-site-was-hacked/. If there are specific issues related to our plugin, we’re here to help address them.
