• I had a search of the support tickets but cannot see this question. We have the Pro version of WP Cerber 8.8.5.

I run a Full Scan every morning. I have found through testing that the scan detects the name of newly added files and modified files. But does not list the name of deleted files. It does reduce the total file count at the head of the scan report to reflect the fact that a file or files have been deleted – but does not list the file name.

Is this possible in a future release ?

    Thanks,
    Keith.

Hi! Are you asking about files deleted by the scanner?

Hello – no not deleted by WP Cerber.

Situation is that we have found that after a major or minor upgrade of WordPress, a key file for Mediavine that is stored in the root directory is somehow deleted. Not sure how and that is the subject of another investigation.

When I run a full scan, I see that the number of files has been decremented by 1. But WP Cerber does not list the deleted file name. Conversely, If I add or modify a file, WP Cerber does list the file name – which is good. We have 40,000 plus files so knowing which file is deleted would be helpful.

This ticket is to ask if WP Cerber can list any files deleted between Full Scans ?.

    Hope that makes sense.

    Thanks,
    Keith.

As a security plugin, WP Cerber detects all changes (new, modified, deleted) in files that belong to WordPress, themes, and plugins only. Why? Deleting files from those packages poses a risk. If an unattended (or created by another plugin) file is missing, WP Cerber has no information on the purpose of the deleted file and cannot do something about it. That’s why such files are not included in reports.

Thanks for looking at this. It would have been a nice feature to have. WP Cerber does list the name of unattended files that are added or altered, as I have verified with testing. That is a useful feature. For deleted files, I do see that the total file count has gone down correspondingly, so that is an indicator of deletion.

We will soon implement generating a detailed scanning report. It will include detailed information about all changes in the website file system.
