I got malware, site got suspended, took these files away and changed passwords
and only first page started to work when i got access to the domain site again.
then installed new wordpress 4.0.1 – and after this the site is blank totally! ??

I changed users and took 2 of them away as they dont work with us anymore and I dont have their paswords, so I putted up one user and that is admin and with new password.

I have been sitting with one.com support in this matter for many hours 10 hours atleast! but this dont still work,

I know also that the left hand side in wordpress administration dont look as on my other sites, its plenty of things that are missing , tools missing, no widgets, no place to change theme, plenty of sites are missing..

    What can I do?

    hi jasmina,

I have exactly the same problem.

although I did not touch the dashboard for 2 days.
but 2 hours ago i got a msg from wordpress that my sites were updated automatically. when i tried to access the site or login there are only blank white pages now.

I understand that you could NOT access the site after the update, but you remember that the left hand side in the adm. was already changed BEFORE the update?

hope somebody has answers for that. I will check the follow-ups.
    good luck for us ??

    cheers, alex

I have a similar problem. Didn’t touch my site for a few days but after the automatic update today it doesn’t display any posts anymore. All I get is blank pages / http 500.

Try manually resetting your plugins (no Dashboard access required). If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

If that does not resolve the issue, access your server via FTP or SFTP, navigate to /wp-content/themes/ and rename the directory of your currently active theme. This will force the default theme to activate and hopefully rule-out a theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).

    hi james,

thanks for the suggestion. i already did this. renamed the plugins individually, then renamed the whole plugins folder and created a new (empty) one.
    also renamed the theme.
    no change so far.

Try downloading WordPress again and delete then replace your copies of everything except the wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory with fresh copies from the download. This will effectively replace all of your core files without damaging your content and settings. Some uploaders tend to be unreliable when overwriting files, so don’t forget to delete the original files before replacing them.

    hi james,

    YES! WORKED FOR ME!
    solved.

    that was a good idea.
    THANKS A LOT!

i guess i now also will use one of those “prevent WP from automatic update” plugins.

    cheers, alex

    THANKS A LOT!

    You’re welcome!

You can do that without a plugin if you want to: https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Configuring_Automatic_Background_Updates#Configuration_via_wp-config.php

Thank you James. A plugin called “Countdown Timer” caused that problem.

Thanks guys. Identified a plugin that caused the problem. Deactivating all and reactivating them one by one identified the rebel ??
