    Dear everyone,

I am taking over the design of a wordpress website. Everything is okay untill I try to view the page. It does not show my wordpress site but some other html page where is put ‘under construction’.
There is no use of a moderation plugin or anything.
I can not also see that it is linked to another file. WordPress is installed in the httpdocs folder.

    Hope someone can help me!
    Thanks
    Babette

FTP into your site (or use whatever file management application your host provides) & delete the index.html file in the root folder.

Thank you for your fast reply, esmi.

There was an index.html in the httpsdocs folder, I deleted it. But now it still shows ‘under construction’ in plain text.

Try asking your hosts for assistance.

    Thank for your suggestion.

It’s actually really strange, because when I try to see a single page it also displays the same ‘under construction’file.

Is that a problem in my permalinks?

No. It’s a hosting issue. Most hosts put up some kind of under construction page on new accounts that is automagically replaced by an index.html file in a static web site. As WordPress doesn’t use .html files, the automagic doesn’t work & you have to delete the “holding” file manually. The exact process can vary from host to host.

I e-mailed the previous designers and they put a code inside of the header that made the site only visible for certain IP-adresses.
    So now it’s solved.

    Thanks!
