    Hello!

I use the JetPack Monitor service and I get daily emails (sometimes more than once per day) letting me know that the website https://discoverportovenere.com is down. After some minutes (usually 3-10 minutes) I receive the email saying that the website is back online.

I contacted the Hosting provider and they say they do not see any server-related problems in their log (I own different websites with them but never receive this kind of Jetpack notification). discoverportovenere.com with th issue and it is the only website running the Sparkling Theme so I am wondering if there is an issue with the Theme?

Or could it be some of my plugins?
    -Jetpack
-Yoast SEO / Google Analytics by Yoast
    -WP User Avatar
    -MOJO Marketplace
    -ManageWP
    -Facebook Video Embed
    -Cookie Notice
    -Black Studio tinyMCE Widget

    Thanks!!

  • Are all of these plugins used on your other sites cuz the only issue i see from your url is that it is a very slow server and risks timeouts. Btw, just now i did a refresh and found a lot of 504 timeout errors. Does your server use Varnish cache server?

Also you have way too many resources loading on that front page (325 requests).

Thanks for the quick reply Kimberly!

There are 3 plugins that I only use on this website, they are:
    -WP User Avatar
    -MOJO Marketplace
    -Facebook Video Embed

I guess i will try to deactivate them and see how it goes.

I have no idea of the Varnish cache server, I will ask Bluehost about it and ask again whether it’s their fault.

And I guess I will try to optimize photos and have less posts on the homepage, if that can help.

    thanks again!!

Hi again! I’d also recommend you use a page cache plugin and minify tool such as Super Cache or W3 Total Cache. That should help speed things up and reduce a number of those requests and ultimatley should help stop those timeouts.

If you like you can try that first before reducing the # of posts on your front page.

Just be aware that when u set up those cache/minify tools you may expeirence some temporary hiccups (e.g. some js files may be placed in the wrong order when combined) — all fixable though.

    Hey Kimberly,

thanks again, also for warning me about the possible hiccups. I had a look at the suggested plugins and I am afraid my knowledge is not that advanced, I do not want to risk messing up the website! For now I am working on optimizing photos and homepage, should this not work I will gather some courage and try to use a page cache plugin.

    Have a lovely day!

    Hi @thewebmonk,

I hope you are well today and thanks for posting here.

You are getting the email letting you know that the website is down because you may be using the Jetpack Monitor https://jetpack.me/support/monitor/ module on your site that alerts you the moment that downtime is detected so it’s not the theme issue.

You are not getting this email on your different sites hosted on the same server because may be the Jetpack plugin or the Monitor module of that plugin is not installed on those sites.

    Best Regards,
    Movin
