Site is okay, but the posts are all gone *** PLEASE HELP***

  • I upgraded to 2.6 last night and everything went fine. I had no problems until this morning when I went on line and found that none of my past, present, or future posts will show up on my website https://www.thadenfamilyblog.com/.

    Everything else on the pages is working fine, except my tags. When I log in to the dashboard and click on manage posts it shows 224 have been published, but when when I try to open them it says no posts. What did I do wrong? I checked my database information and it looks all correct. I do have a backup copy of everything, but I’m not sure where to look to find the error.

    PLEASE HELP!!!!!

  • It is only your index/home page that is not working – the posts are visible in monthly or category archive view (with a lot of bad characters because you type as it was paper… no need for double space after period [.] on the web!)

    Troubleshooting:
    – switch to another theme (like the default or classic from the 2.6 package, not an old version of them!). Does it work?
    – deactivate all plugins

    I found that the event calendar is causing some issues so I deactivated it. Then my posts would show, but my sidebar didn’t. Now that I’ve changed to the classic theme both my sidebar and my posts show. Thank you for your help with that, but I really do not like the classic theme. Will I be able to go back to my old theme or will it continue to give me problems?

    You don’t have to like the classic, that was just part of the troubleshooting; and it was successful because it showed there is a problem with your theme.

    You may want to deactivate all the plugins to see if you get back the sidebar. Next, check your theme’s template files to make sure they don’t use deprecated Template_Tags.

    The “bad characters” is a fact, whether you like it or not. Hitting space twice after period… you end up with this: ?. What’s rude in telling you what not to do?

    Deactivating the plug-ins worked for me. Thanks!
