My site just started showing plain text and graphics as separate items, not laid out using Startup Blog format. I saw itsmithu’s similar issue posted 13 months ago, and deactivated all plugins, but it had no effect.

All my other WP sites hosted by the same host (Dreamhost) look and function normally, so it does not appear to be an issue with my host, browser, or ISP.

WordPress is updated to current version.

I tried to restore a backup from both the host and my backup program, UpDraft, but the issue must be older than these backups (Nov 6). I have been very busy with other things and have not visited the site since before then.

    Thanks for using Startup Blog!

It looks like this is due to the Child Theme Configurator plugin. It’s loading an empty stylesheet for the child theme and no longer loading Startup Blog’s main stylesheet. Switching from the child theme back to the regular Startup Blog theme should fix the issue.

Go to the parent/child tab and run the analyzer again. If the parent theme changed the way it queues its stylesheets, this should automatically correct the child theme actions.

Went to the Parent/Child tab. Step 1 “CONFIGURE an existing Child Theme” was already selected. I left it and ran “Analyze.”

    Message:

“This child theme uses the parent stylesheet but does not load the parent theme’s style.css file.
Please select a stylesheet handling method or check “Ignore parent theme stylesheets” (see step 6, below).”

I don’t know which option to choose. FYI I doubt I’ve made any custom changes to the Configurator. I just wanted a vanilla child version of my site.

Okay, I took my chances and reset the child theme (after backing it up, again). Since I didn’t have any customizations in the configurator, it looks like the world has not ended. It worked. Site is back to normal.

    Thanks for the hand-holding.

Glad to hear that! Don’t hesitate to post here if you need anything else, and I’ll be happy to help.

@lilaeamedia – Thanks for your assistance with this.
