site keeps point to https instead of http, plus blank page

I have having a bleep of a time trying to figure out what is going on/wrong … at first it was just the blank page for the entire site, couldn’t even access the admin panel … so I followed standard op and turned off the plug-ins in the FTP side of things, that did 100% nothing so I turned off all the themes (save the native/classic ones) and that didn’t do anything either.

I looked through the forum and saw some potential options so I went into the wp-config file and made some edits (saving the original) still nothing was happening so I reverted it back, saw that there was some potential .htaccess stuff here, and looked at the file and added some of the suggested lines and still nothing, renamed the file to have it regenerate and still nothing.

I went to sleep and when I woke up the site was now throwing a https when NOTHING in the config file or the .htaccess file is pointing to such it ALL points to http this is making me utterly confused and not pleased at all a.

Now prior to some of this, my friend who owns the domain had installed an SSL plug-in and it had locked her out of the site so I just disabled the plug-in and she was back to accessing the site with 0 issues. Weeks go by and now this is happening and that plug-in was deleted. I’m starting to wonder if that plug-in messed with something that I’m not seeing, yet why if it did would it take a week or so before it caused an issue (which is why it doesn’t seem like its the cause, but it’s the only thing that was done to the site in the past 6 months outside of the regular updates).

I know when you get past the https but say that you trust the site, it is still throwing the blank screen (which my source code info is saying is an error 404 – site not found, this is confusing me big time since the site was there before the blank screen that started all this appeared as to what was happening before that blank screen. I don’t know I hadn’t looked at the site in over a week, only to get a message that I see the site was down, and I was like ?? looked, and well fudge.

I don’t know what more to do or anything this is WAYYYYYY outside of my experience and unfortunately, the only backup for the site was made this time last year (complete backup – database and everything) … now yes I can have the site reset to that old save, but I am trying to save what is there before resorting to the old backup save.

Any help insight would be greatly thankful.
