I ran into this issue recently. I had a few factors I removed from the equation and it worked.

I had a network adblocker enabled, due to the analytics and ads relationship, I thought this might have been interfering. — I disabled it. — Issue was not resolved.

I use multiple signed-on google accounts. — I logged out of all but the one with GA. — Issue was not resolved.

I use Brave browser, and even though I had “shields down” I switched to Chrome for this. — Worked on the first try.

If you’re running into this issue, I’d suggest you try using an alternative browser to your regular browser, Opera, Firefox, Vivaldi, Chrome, whatever, just to test it.

Thanks for the input @rakxzo! Very useful suggestion.

You can solve this problem by changing the browser.

@jamesosborne you’re welcome. I just kept running into it and the error is not descriptive enough to be helpful so this might help others troubleshoot. Just basic stuff, start from scratch with minimal interference and add chaos slowly to identify the problem. ??

Oscar Gonzalez (@rakxzo)’s advice to switch from Brave browser to another browser allowed me to use Site Kit. I used Safari to get the job done.

I was getting “Error: Bad Request (missing parameter: ‘code’)” after installing Site Kit > clicking the Set up button > which takes me to Google to sign in > which takes me to the error page. All solved now thanks to Oscar Gonzalez (@rakxzo)’s advice.

The error is pretty bad and leaves you clueless as to how to set things up, and had to resort to checking this forum for an answer. Unfortunately, going incognito in Brave did not solve this for me, but using Safari worked and let me continue on with the rest of the setup.

@bfintal Glad to hear you were able to continue using Safari. If you do encounter any further issues then please could you open a new support topic where we will be happy to assist you there.

FYI for others. I can confirm that this is just a Brave Browser problem (even with shields turned off)

Use a different browser and it should work just fine.
