Although optimizing my website was torture as a beginner, after a few weeks of hard work I was happy with 83% on mobile.

But everything went down after I installed Site Kit to have some Analytics. I just tested this page on PageSpeed.

    Without Site Kit:

    With Site Kit:

I find weird that some of the issues are related to ADS, even though I haven’t been approved by Adsense. Why is it running and why is it so demanding?

    • Google/Doubleclick Ads?Ad: 186,8 KiB 125,4?KiB
    • (pagead2.googlesyndication.com): 137,3?KiB 100,6?KiB
    • (pagead2.googlesyndication.com): 49,5?KiB 24,8?KiB
    • Google Tag Manager?Tag-Manager: 93,9?KiB 33,8?KiB
    • (www.googletagmanager.com): 93,9?KiB 33,8?KiB

Is there a way to improve this or do I just have to take the L in order to implement analytics?

    Thanks beforehand!

Thanks for reaching out @alexcastor, and appreciate you sharing screenshots to demonstrate the differences you’re facing with performance.

What you’re encountering is additional network requests based on adding services, including Google Analytics and AdSense to your site. When doing so, it’s normal that there may be a trade off in performance, as there will be trips made between your site and the Analytics and AdSense networks. This is the same whether you use Site Kit or not to add these services.

It also sounds like you may be aware of this already, given your mention on implementing Analytics. While we’re limited to Site Kit specific support here in the plugin support forums there may be some ways for small performance wins, such as adopting AMP for your site or reviewing your AdSense settings such as your ad load or formats.

We also added a guide on the plugin website that explains the above in more detail, but do let me know if you have any questions with any of the comments above.

Kinda sad that it’s so hard on performance. I also don’t understand why AdSense is costing me so much when I don’t even run ads in my website! Google has not approved my site as far as I’m concerned, so those https requests are empty? Will it get even worst with real ads?

I decided to uninstall Site Kit and install Monsterinsight, which has less impact on my site. No ideal but I don’t need to show ads yet since I’m not AdSense approved. It’s what it is I guess.

Sorry to hear that you have moved on from Site Kit. What I would suggest, if you are willing to give Site Kit another try, is to toggle off the option for Site Kit to placed your AdSense code. This will result in the plugin not making http requests to the AdSense network.

Note also that if you’re using another plugin to place your Analytics snippet, you will still have the same network requests between your site and the Analytics related resources.

Let me know if you have any questions with the above.
