On google Analytics I see two properties – one which is GA4 and another one created when I first created the account. I install Site Kit and I connect it with the GA4 property. I noticed no traffic appear on Analytics. I go to data streams and I get the following error: “Data collection isn’t active for your website. If you installed tags more than 48 hours ago, make sure that they are set up correctly.View tag instructions.”
I check the code Google Analytics script that Site Kit has inserted on the page and I noticed that the ID (js?id=GT-XXXXXX) is wrong when compared with the manual ID that Analytics gives if I want to insert the code manually. I disconnected the account, removed the plugin – reinstalled everything – same error.

Thanks for reaching out?@andyhelid. The reason you don’t see your GA4 snippet directly (with a G- prefix) if checking your sites source code, is that Site Kit uses the new?Google tag?for your GA4 property (with a GT- prefix). A users GA4 snippet is contained within a Google Tag.

You’ll find more details on how Site Kit works with the new Google tag by?visiting the plugin website.

With regards the “Data collection isn’t active for your website...” message I suspect it’s just a matter of waiting if you’ve just connected your site with a GA4 property. If you installed tags more than 48 hours ago, I’m happy to check your site and confirm that your GA4 snippet is recording. In order to do so please share your site URL or share your Site Health information privately via this form. Alternatively you can confirm that your GA4 snippet is recording using the Analytics real time report or the tagassistant.google.com service.

Note also that if you’ve just connected your site with a GA4 snippet, you may see a “Gathering data” notice within the Site Kit dashboard. This is normal and expected.

Let me know if you have any questions with the above.

Thank you for your response. Has been almost 4 days since I reconfigured site kit and I still dont see live users accessing my site despite doing so from different machines. I filled in the Google docs form for further support. Please let me know if you need anything extra from me. I appreciate your support.

Thanks for the update @andyhelid. I just checked your site and I can confirm that site visits are firing in Analytics, but only once I consent to your cookies plugin. You can check this yourself using the tagassistant.google.com service.

You can check your Complianz configurations if you wish to change the behavior of your Analytics visits.

Note also that if you’re using the Analytics live reporting page, it may be best to visit your own site while not logged in. Without doing so, you’re own site visit won’t be recorded if you’re using the Site Kit default Analytics settings, which doesn’t count logged in users.

Let me know if you have any questions with the above.

    Hi @andyhelid,

Please go to the wizard – 2. Consent – Statistics and set it as shown in this screenshot. https://snipboard.io/0pgqDT.jpg

Then proceed to the next step and you will find the appropriate question:

Do you want to ask consent for statistics?

Set it to ‘No’, Save and your set.

    regards Aert – Complianz

Thank you both. I made all the changes but still whether I consent to cookies or not, I still do not see my visits in Analytics. I have tried incognito as well as using a second laptop over VPN and also from my mobile over 5G. Is very strange that I am unable to see any visits.

Thanks for the update @andyhelid, and for the useful info @aahulsebos.

I checked your site both manually and using the tagassistant.google.com service and I can confirm that my site visits are being recorded once I consent. The GA4 tag that is firing is G-58****ZGTG.
