Hi I am facing issues with setting up Site Kit on wordpress. It shows the error message – “Your site may not be ready for Site Kit. This can be caused by using certain caching or maintenance mode plugins or your site’s frontend is configured on a different host or infrastructure than your administration dashboard.?Get help

Thanks for getting in touch?@alvintzj. From reviewing your site what I suspect may be happening is a caching or optimization configuration is resulting in Site Kit not being able to detect tags placed on your site during setup. This may be at host level given I don’t see anything obvious from reviewing the Site Health information you kindly shared. To troubleshoot this further, lets try to rule out plugin related conflicts. To do so, please follow the steps below:

    1. Login to your live site from a Chrome browser incognito window.
    2. Install and activate the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin.
    3. Navigate to “Plugins > Health Check & Troubleshooting > Troubleshoot”.
    4. From the same screen click on the “Available Plugins” tab at the top right and then click on the “Enable” option next to “Site Kit by Google“.
    5. Attempt to set up Site Kit once more or check for the same error.

Let me know if you have any questions with the above. We also have more?information on the plugin website?in relation to this error.

    Hi James,

Thank you for your response. Unfortunately, following the above steps (using incognito, activating the plug-in, enable auto-updates of Site Kit, attempt to set up Site Kit) failed to set up Site Kit, ie. the same error persists. Even with the same error, I went ahead and try to set up Site Kit by signing in with Google but met with the following error shown in the image below.

With regards to “Troubleshoot”, is there supposed to be a “Troubleshooting Mode”?

Also, I am wondering if a zoom call to aid in troubleshooting will be faster. Thank you!

Thanks for the update @alvintzj. Unfortunately the screenshot mentioned wasn’t included. If the same error is appearing, can you confirm that you did follow all the steps as suggested above? I ask as troubleshooting mode is a feature within the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin, and it switches to a core theme and disabled all third party plugins for you only (regular visitors to your site are not impacted).

With regards to “Troubleshoot”, is there supposed to be a “Troubleshooting Mode”?

Troubleshooting mode is enabled from step 3 by following the previous suggested steps.

Also, I am wondering if a zoom call to aid in troubleshooting will be faster. Thank you!

As per WordPress support forum guidelines, support and communication is limited to the support forums. Not to worry however, I’m confident we’ll determine the cause. Please do confirm that you followed all the troubleshooting checks above (in particular enabling “troubleshooting mode – step 3). If it’s the same error that appears, regarding not being able to detect tags. If so, I’ll advise you on some checks at host or Cloudflare level, as it looks like you may be a Cloudflare user. There are options to temporarily pause Cloudflare which may be worthwhile checking.

Let me know if you have any questions with the above.

    Hi James,

I have managed to click on “Enable Troubleshooting Mode” in the “Troubleshooting” tab in “Site Health” but it does not stay in Troubleshooting Mode apparently.

It immediately redirects me to the dashboard and when I goes back to “Troubleshooting” tab, “Enable Troubleshooting Mode” is available to be activated again.

Please advise. (A call would have make things so much easier and faster and I can show you what’s happening in real time…)

Sorry to hear that the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin is not working as expected for you. Based on this there my some other aspects of your site impacting this plugin and not just Site Kit set up. While we’re unable to login to users sites or engage in a call, we can perform some further checks independent of the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin. To start, please share the following:

    1. Do you see any warnings or errors when checking your Site Health status? (Tools > Site Health > Status), which differs from your Site Health information requested above? Such errors may include REST endpoint references.
    2. Does the same occur if you temporarily deactivate Content Control and your Fusion plugins, and then attempt so set up Site Kit once more?
    3. As I can see you’re a Cloudflare user from the checks I performed, can you temporarily pause Cloudflare and check does the same occur when trying to set up Site Kit? You’ll find the steps to do so by clicking here.

Let me know if you have any questions with the above.

    Hi James,

    1. There are no critical warnings. Only 3 recommended improvements. Let me know if any are of importance.

      • Remove inactive plugins
      • Remove inactive themes
      • One or more recommended modules are missing
        • The optional module, fileinfo, is not installed, or has been disabled.
        • The optional module, imagick, is not installed, or has been disabled.
        • The optional module, zip, is not installed, or has been disabled.

      2. Tried it with incognito mode as well. Unfortunately, the error message that the “site may not be ready for site kit” persists.

      3. Unfortunately, I do not have access to Cloudflare. I will have to check with my IT team.

Please suggest alternative ways to solve this. Thank you

Thanks for the update @alvintzj. Based on your comments we will need to perform checks for either a third party plugin or host related issue resulting in Site Kit not being able to place tags. Your IT my be able to pause Cloudflare so you can attempt Site Kit setup, with a block possible at Cloudflare level. From the checks I performed on your site it may also be your a hosting feature that’s connecting your site to Cloudflare.

From your side, did you temporarily deactivate Content Control and your Fusion plugins, and then attempt so set up Site Kit once more, as requested above? I’m aware you checked incognito, but did you try to deactivate these plugins and attempt Site Kit set up? If not, please go ahead and do so.

Let me know how you get on with the above.

      (@alvintzj)

      Hi James,

Yup I will check with my IT on the cloudfare.

But yes, I temporarily deactivated Content Control and Fusion Plugins, then attempt to set up Site Kit, on both normal and incognito mode.

Let me know if there are other methods beyond the cloudfare method.

      (@jamesosborne)

Appreciate the update, thanks for checked.

Let me know if there are other methods beyond the Cloudfare method.

Checking does the same occur with Cloudflare paused would be ideal, but if that’s not possible at present, you may wish to check does the same occur if you attempt Site Kit set up from another site on the same hosting platform. Do you have any sites on the same hosting platform? If not, you may be able to create on, using a subdomain or subdirectory from your parent domain name. I checked your hosting provider and they do provide support for “One click apps”.

As the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin isn’t working for you, you may also wish to refresh your .htaccess file, by visiting your Permalinks settings (Settings > Permalinks) and press the “Save changes” button. Note that you don’t need to make any changes. This can be useful in the event you’re impacted by a correct .htaccess file or a rule that’s blocking both Site Kit set up and the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin from functioning as normal.

Let me know if you have any questions with the above.

I’m just following up with you to check whether the error remains? If so please share the information requested above and we can investigate further.

      Thread Starter alvintzj

      (@alvintzj)

      Hi James,

Yes the error remains but our IT team is looking at it since this is more technical than it seems. This is the IT team reply, do you think the reason below could be a factor?

      • As discussed about today server issue, this is coz of Server Resources is not enough to handle the request, would recommend to use Vodien Business Plan or Virtual Private Server as MyHivTest. Maybe Vodien WordPress hosting able to handle too.
      • We have upgraded PHP version to 8.2 but error still remain.?
      • The reason is most of the basic shared web hosting is not enough resource to host to WordPress site, so should upgrade to business hosting or Private Server.?

However, we realized that there is no such option as “Business Plan” in Vodien.com, and there are no difference for the performance of web hosting, except Storage, Websites number to host, Databases, etc. Do you think the server resource is the limiting factor here and we need to upgrade the web hosting plan for the website from?our current plan of webBasic76 (Legacy) to webValue for the Google Analytics to work?

      Thank you!

Thanks for the update @alvintzj. See below response regarding your queries:

As discussed about today server issue, this is coz of Server Resources is not enough to handle the request, would recommend to use Vodien Business Plan or Virtual Private Server as MyHivTest. Maybe Vodien WordPress hosting able to handle too.

Site Kit doesn’t require much resources, and during setup it will attempt to place a virtual HTML file only, for verification with Search Console. What could be potentially be happening, is a security feature limiting HTTP requests could be active. Did you try to set up Site Kit from another site on the same hosting platform? If the same occurs, this could indicate such a hosting block. If you let me know the plugin you’re on, I can also see if it’s possible for me to find out more about any possible limitations if any.

We have upgraded PHP version to 8.2 but error still remain.?

That’s useful to know it’s not related to any PHP version,

The reason is most of the basic shared web hosting is not enough resource to host to WordPress site, so should upgrade to business hosting or Private Server.?

Many Site Kit users are on Shared hosting plans without issue, so I don’t think you need to upgrade your hosting. If you share the plan you’re on I can try and investigate this further.

Rather than performing host related checks, did you try and temporarily pause Cloudflare? I ask as the issue may be coming from a Cloudflare configuration. You can ask your IT team to pause Cloudflare by following this guide.

Let me know if you have any questions with the above.
