I am trying to configure Google Analytics and I am getting a modsecurity error. Hostgator has already adjusted everything on the server and verified that the domain is on withelist, but I still get that error. Can you help me? Thanks

Thanks for reaching out. While any modsecurity or hosting firewall changes can only be made at host level we’d be happy to check this from our site once more. Before doing so in order to rule out particular conflicts with plugins or your WordPress environment can you follow the steps below:

    1. Login to your site from a Chrome browser incognito window
    2. Install and activate the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin.
    3. Navigate to “Plugins > Health Check & Troubleshooting > Troubleshoot”.
    4. From the same screen click on the “Available Plugins” tab at the top right and then click on the “Enable” option next to “Site Kit by Google”
    5. Attempt to setup Site Kit once more

You can exit troubleshooting mode afterwards. If the same issue occurs please share the full modsecurity error encountered along with any console errors that appear on the same page.

You can use a service such as Imgur to share a screenshot of the error message encountered.

Hello. Thanks for your answer. I have not been able to solve my problem. I attach the text of the error. In the Analytics settings, I select the account and when I click the “configure analytics” button, it gives me the following error:

    “Not Acceptable!
An appropriate representation of the requested resource could not be found on this server. This error was generated by Mod_Security. “

I’m having the same problem, I contacted the hosting server and they couldn’t help me.
Does anyone know how to solve this problem?

    someone managed to solve?

@mpoujade Thanks for the update. In that case it looks like ModSecurity alone and no WordPress environment conflict is impacting Analytics setup. We do have a GitHub issue from whereby Hostgator stated they’ve whitelisted Site Kit. I’ll follow up with them now and keep you updated here.

@bragamatta @fairsdrive @jlmacedo92 Thanks for the input. Can you confirm your current hosting provider?

    I’m using a hostgator

I’m using Hostgator too. I talk to their support and they said it’s unblocked already.

@jamesosborne @jlmacedo92 @fairsdrive Thank you very much for your help. I contacted google and their support team informs me that Hostgator must disable “Mod security” to fix this incompatibility. I haven’t heard from hostgator yet, but I update the information as soon as I receive it. Thank you again.

@mpoujade @bragamatta @jlmacedo92 Many thanks for the update.

I’ve tested a couple of site installs using WordPress specific hosting with HostGator and ran into no issues. Can you confirm are you on shared, WordPress or Cloud hosting package?

@jamesosborne Hostgator informs me that: “… it no longer has locks for Mod Security, in shared plans it is not possible to deactivate that system since it is the protection of the servers …”.
