    Hello.

The company I work for has just migrated from Shopify to WordPress.

Part of this was to create the WP site in a staging environment. In this environment, when I try to log in to Site Kit, it lets me sign in to Google and then start the entire process (e.g., verify site).

Now that we have made the staging site in PROD, including changing the URL, when I try Site Kit on Prod, I click the Sign in with Google button, choose my account and grant permissions.

Once I have done that, I get redirected back to the WP Admin page to log back in. When I log back in, I get this message:

The link you followed has expired. Please try again.
    Retry didn’t work??Get help.

I have tried doing this in Incognito mode, or a different computer, and I get the same loop – how can I fix it?

The Site Health stats are below, the site has a rating of Good.

    It has 3 recommended improvements:

    1 – Delete inactive plugins

    2- Delete inactive themes

    3 – Use a persistent object cache.

I have tried reset the Site Kit plugin (from the Tools menu) and also deactivating and uninstalling and then reinstalling the plugin, but it is still the same.

Any help is much appreciated – thanks!

    Hi @ianantwalks,

Thanks for reaching out. Based on your description, what I suspect may be happening is Site Kit has some records of your old staging site setup on the Site Kit service, and it’s generating a callback URL with your old set up.

To check this further, when you’re redirected back to the login page, do you see any mention of the old site URL in the address bar (where you need to login once more)? If so can you try to collect this link by manually correcting the link in the address bar and continuing?

If the same occurs, then there is another method to try and force Site Kit to use your production site URL if you are redirected to your staging site URL. In order to do so you can visit your site settings (on your production site) and adding an additional character to the site title, such as an underscore. You don’t need to make any other changes other than to your site title. This will trigger Site Kit to update your site records.

Let me know how you get on with the above. If the same occurs, please share your?Site Health information?and we can investigate this further. You can?use this form?to share privately if preferred.

Let me know if you have any questions with the above.

I’m just following up with you to check whether the issues remains when attempting Site Kit set up? If so please share the information requested above and we can investigate further.

I encountered the same problem yesterday… so good that I found this thread. By updating my site title and then proceed with the site kit setup, it completed smoothly! Thx
