    Hey,

My Site Kit is showing this message “Data error in Analytics
<p>There has been a critical error on this website.</p><p>Learn more about troubleshooting WordPress.</p>”

I have checked everything else is working fine and Site Health is good.

I’m submitting the Site Health data using the form provided in this forum earlier.

    Kind regards.

Thanks for reaching out and also for sharing your Site Health information. As you’re using iThemes can you share the setting you have for “iThemes Security -> System Tweaks -> Filter long URL strings“?

If you have this enabled please disable before then checking your Analytics dashboards once more. Let me know if that allows you to view your dashboards as expected.

    Hello, same problem here!
from today (no plugin updates) we have this php errors in dashboard widgets and frontend site kit’s menu

    Hi @arnopeck,

Sorry to hear you’re encountering trouble. If you’d like to open an individual support topic and share the error message you’re encountering we’d be happy to look into your case individually. Include your Site Health information or any errors or warnings that might appear may also assist us in identifying the cause.

    Hello James,

    Here the error:
    Data error in Analytics
<p>Si è verificato un errore critico sul tuo sito web.</p><p>Scopri di più riguardo la risoluzione dei problemi in WordPress.</p>

This error appears in every sitekit widget

I have no issues in Site Health, and php is 7.4

    In admin, in console:

Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 500:
    https://MYDOMAIN.com/wp-json/google-site-kit/v1/modules/search-console/data/searchanalytics?dimensions=date&startDate=2021-05-03&endDate=2021-06-27&_locale=user

    which have this content:
    {“code”:”rest_forbidden”,”message”:”Non hai i permessi per farlo.”,”data”:{“status”:401}}

    Hey @jamesosborne

I haven’t enabled System Tweaks. But still, for the purpose of confirming, I just enabled it and then disabled it, purged the cache, and then checked the Sitekit and it is still giving the same error.

@salik21 Thanks for testing. In that case can you perform the checks below and inform me if you still encounter the same message?

    1. Login to your site from a Chrome browser incognito window
    2. Install and activate the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin.
    3. Navigate to “Plugins > Health Check & Troubleshooting > Troubleshoot”.
    4. From the same screen click on the “Available Plugins” tab at the top right and then click on the “Enable” option next to “Site Kit by Google”
    5. Attempt to view your Site Kit and Analytics dashboard once more

You can exit troubleshooting mode afterwards.

Let me know how you get on after performing the above.

@arnopeck As per WordPress support forum guidelines please open an individual support topic from where we can assist you. It looks like you have WordPress REST API restrictions and if so this may be resulting in Site Kit not working as expected. Open a support topic and I can provide you with some suggestions.

    Hey @jamesosborne

I followed the steps as you said.

Opened the dashboard in incognito mode, installed the plugin, started troubleshoot, enabled the Sitekit with all other disabled, and then went to Sitekit dashboard but still same error.

Many thanks for providing an update, sorry to hear that didn’t work. With the issue still existing can you please share any notifications or warnings when you access your Site Health status? This may highlight any action or fault at WordPress level, and not specifically Site Kit.

    Hey @jamesosborne

I just checked again and the Site Health is good. Also, there are no notifications or anything in the Site Health area. It just says “Great job! Everything is running smoothly here”.

I can’t attach a screenshot with this msg otherwise I would have surely done it for your assistance. Do you need me to share the site health data again?

@salik21 Thanks for providing an update. No need to once again share your Site Health information, I can see your previous response. As this notice is a generic WordPress notice can you provide the following information:

    1. Does this only occur when visiting the Analytics tab within Site Kit, or also when visiting your primary Site Kit dashboard?
    2. Do you see this notice at any stage after temporarily deactivating the Analytics module?

    (@salik21)

    Hey @jamesosborne

    1. The error is showing in Sitekit Summary, Dashboard Overview page, Search Console, Analytics and Page Speed and Experience section at the bottom of the Dashboard Overview page.

    2. When I deactivate the Analytics module, the Search Console and the Page Speed and Experience section are still showing the same error.

    Hey @jamesosborne

And now I can’t activate the Analytics module, It’s showing the an error when I try to activate the Analytics Module and put my info in it, it is showing “There has been a critical error on this website. Please check your site admin email inbox for instructions.”

Thanks for sharing the additional insights. While I can’t be sure of the cause let’s try a couple more troubleshooting steps. Please share the below:

    1. Do you encounter the “There has been a critical error on this website” in other areas of your site, not specific to Site Kit. This includes your “Settings > Permalinks” page, your theme customizer and editing a post.
    2. Does the same occur after uninstalling and reinstalling the Site Kit plugin from the WordPress plugin repository? Your connected services will remain intact once reactivated.
    3. Have you checked your hosting provider for any caching or Firewall rules? I noticed some additional .htaccess rules, which may be coming from your hosting configurations.

Let me know if you have any questions with the above. If you’re only encountering the critical error when accessing the Site Kit plugin tabs I can provide some additional troubleshooting steps.

    (@salik21)

    Hey @jamesosborne

I have checked the first 2 points and I am only encountering the error “There has been a critical error on this website” in the Sitekit and in no other place including the settings > Permalinks page. I have also tried deactivating and re-activating but the error is still occurring.

I have asked the hosting support guys to update on any additional rules if there are any. So once I get an update, I will also fwd it to you.
