Is it possible to combine Site Kit with WooCommerce Google Analytics Integration?

I want to place the GA4 tag via Site Kit (because it also enables adding Google Ads Conversion ID) and use WooCommerce Google Analytics Integration for enhanced e-commerce events tracking.

The problem is, no matter how I set WooCommerce Google Analytics Integration I get this message on Site Kit:

A tag G-ELD9Z0B6PL for the selected property already exists on the site.

Make sure you remove it if you decide to place the same GA4 tag via Site Kit, otherwise they will be duplicate

Can I prevent WooCommerce Google Analytics Integration from setting the tag?

  • Hi there @asafm7 ??

Thank you for contacting Woo support!

I want to place the GA4 tag via Site Kit (because it also enables adding Google Ads Conversion ID) and use WooCommerce Google Analytics Integration for enhanced e-commerce events tracking.

From what I gather, you’d like to have both e-commerce events and ads conversion performance tracking for your store.

My recommendation would be to check out the Google Listings & Ads plugin, instead of Site Kit. It is useful for the ads conversion part (see details here), and having it installed along the WooCommerce Google Analytics Integration plugin is supported (see here for further details).

I trust that points you in the right direction, but if you have more questions, let us know.

    We’re happy to help.

    Thank you @anastas10s .

We have Google Listings & Ads installed and set up, but it doesn’t seem to place Ads Conversion ID. Also, I don’t see anything about Ads Conversion ID in its documentation.

Let me know if I’m missing something.

If not, can you please let me know if there is a good way for preventing WooCommerce Google Analytics Integration from placing the GA4 tag, while still sending ecommerce events (using a tag placed by Site Kit)?

    Thanks.

    Hi @asafm7

When you create a campaign through the Google Listings & Ads plugin, it automatically sets up the following conversion actions for you:

    1. Purchases
    2. All Pages (Page View)
    3. Product Page
    4. Add to Cart button
    5. Cart Page

This means you don’t need to add the Ads Conversion ID manually to get the conversion reports. Further information can be found here: https://woocommerce.com/document/google-listings-and-ads/faqs/#What-conversion-actions-does-Google-Listings-&-Ads-track

However, I suggest you use the Pixel Manager Pro for WooCommerce plugin to add the Ads Conversion ID, rather than the Site kit. This plugin lets you link WooCommerce data to your Conversion Reports on various supported platforms. These include Google Ads, Google Analytics, Google Optimize, Facebook Ads (Meta Ads), Microsoft Ads, Twitter Ads, Pinterest Ads, Snapchat Ads, TikTok Ads, Hotjar, and more are on the way.

I hope this information helps. If you have any further questions or need more assistance, feel free to ask.

    Thanks!

    Thanks @shameemreza .

I will check this out, although in my experience it is better to use official plugins in the long run.

Can you please let me know regarding this:

Are there any relevant plugin filters?

    Thanks.

I’m not aware of a filter for this use case but feel free to explore the plugin files and resources on GitHub, in case I missed something. :?)

Also, just to confirm, have you tried disabling the Standard Tracking feature?

If that didn’t help, then I think your best option here is to decide which plugin serves your needs more and stick with it. It’s usually not a good idea to use more than one plugin for the same purpose.

    Cheers!

    Thanks.

    I ended up using this:

    wp_dequeue_script('google-tag-manager');
    wp_deregister_script('google-tag-manager');
