    Hi,

Thank you for the great plugin.
I do have one small problem, though. Looks like plugin adds to the page loading times.

GTMetrix test shows that about 600ms are taken by POST feed:

I may be wrong, but it seems that page makes a call to itself to get feed from cache.

Any idea on how to decrease or eliminate this?

    Thanks,
    Rudolf

    HI @rudolfl

Can you please share a link to your GTMetrix test results? We’d like to take a closer look. Spotlight has already been updated to optimize the way images are handled, but we have more optimizations planned for 2021 as well.

We had a couple of reports earlier in 2020 that mentioned GTmetrix results. In cases like those, it was worth mentioning that although page speed ranking tools may indicate a bad score, the images were actually being loaded after the page has finished being served to the browser. So in most cases, the page would have already loaded almost entirely by the time the images are shown on the page, allowing the page to load without having to wait for images to be fetched. This should result in almost no page slowdowns, despite perhaps a less appealing score in GT Metrix.

Spotlight has since had many improvements made to this part of its performance so we’d like to see your test results before making any judgments. If you prefer to share your test results privately, you may do so through the contact form on our website at spotlightwp.com.

@rudolfl and any other Spotlight users who may be using GT Metrix, please refer to our conclusions in the link below on this matter:

    https://docs.spotlightwp.com/article/769-addressing-gt-metrix-reports

In summary, Spotlight loads its data asynchronously, meaning that while it is loading, the site can still load other things at the same time. Rather than adding, for example, 500ms of its own to the total page load time, it allows your website to download a lot of other resources during that same period of time, helping to reduce the overall page load time.
