A little of what I’ve done already. I’ve ran the P3 plugin and it shows that the P3 plugin uses over half of the plugin load time.

P3 also said the plugins take up 55% of the load time.

The wp-admin page is also slow.

Our site does have 34K+ posts and around 8K comments. Could the the load time be because of all the posts in the table?

I just loaded your home page for the first time now, and it loads five to ten times faster than my local (1 million population metro) newspaper’s site.

There are many possible reasons that you would see slow load times. Your site is 1300 lines of HTML, while my local newspaper is 5000 lines. Which means it could be at your end, with your Internet connection or even the speed of your workstation. Or your web server could have been busier than when I tried it.

Numbers of posts and comments in your database is not an issue.

And, obviously, I can’t see wp-admin to know why it loads slowly.

Consider running your site through the google page speed tool for some useful hints to speed up your site:

That google tool is amazing. I was able to increase the speed dramatically. The only issue I’m having is a slow ping response from the server. I hope the hosting people can help me with that.

    Thank you all.

    Praise Helix.
