I think someone was too lenient with the settings for site lockdowns/failed login attempts in our plugin settings. We are notified by email and received far too many. We deactivated the plugin about 30 minutes ago and are still continuing to receive emails, even though we deactivated the “notify by email” feature about 2 hours ago. Is there a way to stop receiving these emails? Or are they queued somehow?

  • I keep receiving the: A lockdown event has occurred due to too many failed login attempts or invalid username:
    Username: test
IP Address: so many different IP Addresses,

What do I do with all this information?

I kept receiving too many messages of lockdown events has occurred due to too many failed login attempts or invalid username, so I’ve disable the tick box of notification by email.

I also checked some of the IP addresses and they are from all over the world.

I’m still wondering what’s going on?

Hi, do you any of you have the following enabled Rename Login Page feature under Brute Force tab?

I did have that feature enabled, but I have since deactivated and deleted the plugin because I didn’t know what else to do. I think (hopefully) that the emails may have stopped just now. I’m just not sure why unselecting the notify by email feature didn’t work for us.

That is very strange because it should work if you disable that feature. There might have been a plugin conflict.

    Hello mbrsolution,
I checked the Brute Force and the Enable Rename Login Page Feature is not enable.

I really like this plugin, even though every time a make a change ie. entering data in the Blacklist Manager, locks me out, the 404 page error appears. I’ve learnt to gain access through the sever editing the htaccess file. So I’m not getting rid off this WP Security plugin.

I don’t receive the emails any more because I’ve disable the notification function.

I’m still wondering if there is people out trying to cause damage?

@petalo, if you enable the Rename Login Page feature it will create another level of security. If you are the only admin in your website then I highly recommended this feature.

    Kind regards
