Site Lockout: IP address vs domain name

  • I’m using wordpress 3.4 with better wp sec Version 3.4.3.
    I’ve noticed that some of my site lockout alerts have my domain name in the Subject ([https://mysite.com] Site Lockout Notification) while others have my ip address ([https://XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX] Site Lockout Notification).

    Why is there a difference? Does the ip address in the email address imply that someone is attempting accessing to the site directly through the IP address while others are using the domain name?
