• Resolved bbooze

    (@bbooze)

I re-did a site in WP after using Godaddy’s awful Website Tonight option for years. Once site completed on my new host, I changed the name server addresses on Godaddy Domain panel… and seems good to go.
The problem is, that I installed and designed my WordPress site on a folder named “website” instead of the “website.com” folder I was supposed to. In order to get the WP site to display in the correct URL, I just deleted the empty “website.com” folder and changed the name of the “website” folder to “website.com” in it’s place.

Not too surprisingly, the basic page loads, but I apparently screwed up all the information pointing to the correct images and whatnot, and it’s way out of whack. Does anyone know of simple way to fix this? Thanks.

  • You seem to have resolved this, yes?

Yah. I ended up having to backup my site entirely, and delete the domain from my hosting account. Then I had to re-addon, this time using the name of the old folder that I designed the WP site into. Then I transferred the files over and it appears to work fine.

Hostgator had to walk me though a few of these steps, but hopefully it’s useful if someone has a similar problem.
