Site moved to root; 404 errors using pretty permalinks

  • Built site in folder then moved it to root. Pretty permalinks cause half the pages to return 404 errors. Default permalinks allow the pages to show (except Gallery). I have replaced the .htaccess file, used SearchReplace.php, used searchreplaceplugin, checked the wp config file, the functions.php file, disabled the plugins. Nothing works. Any suggestions?
