    Hi

    I’d like to add links in my site navigation to specific posts | pages, as well as the categories that are already there. Can anyone please tell me how I might go about this? I am sure I could ‘hard-code’ the links but I wouldn’t know which file they are in!

    I am using the Morning After theme. I cannot post the site URL as it’s not live yet and is protected with an “admin login only” plugin!

  • If you are using the WP Menus, you can create a Custom Links item with the URL of the destination and any label you like. Here is a video tutorial on the WP Menus:

    You can get the URL of a Post or Page by viewing it and copying the link from the Address bar of the browser. Or, you can edit the Post/Page and use the Permalink shown just under the title bar.

    Thank you very much for getting back to me. Ill health forced downtime on this project hence the delay in replying.

    My problem with Custom Menus is that in Morning After they appear in the menu across the top of the page which I do not want – I just want the right sidebar, and the custom menu does not get implemented there.

    I don’t think the Permalinks suggestion is applicable for my issue (my fault, I was not specific) as the link I want to put on the sidebar is simply back to the domain name i.e. a hardcoded URL.

    Because you are using a purchased theme, we cannot examine its code or options. You should contact the theme supplier for help.

    In general, you can remove the top menu by editing header.php. Look for a div or nav section containing wp_nav_menu() and remove it. Be sure to BACK UP FIRST!

    TO show your menu in your sidebar you may be able to use the Custom Menu widget found at Admin->Appearance->Widgets. Drag the widget into your sidebar and select the menu you want.
