• Hi there,

I need help! I can get into the basic stats/reader etc page for my www.ads-software.com site but I cannot get anywhere further. There is no tab to get through to the dashboard and I cannot update plugins as it tells me “there was an error retrieving your data”. It asks me to check if Jetpack is updated, but I can’t access them either.

When I try to visit the site as a viewer it tells me “server error”.

I am a wordpress newbie. I haven’t had to do anything exciting or make any changes. So I really have no idea what to do. I’m such a newbie I don’t actually know which version of WordPress I am using, or even how to check and now that I can’t access my dashboard I can’t find it there.

    Help, please!

  • Hi,
    1. Whats your website address?
    2. Have you got access to your site to FTP?
2.1. If yes, have you tried to turn off your plugins? Rename folder plugins for example?
    3. Are your site using any cache plugin?
    4. tried on different computer? or cleaned cache on yours?

You need to share more information, as above doesn’t allow us to help you.

    Thanks

    Hi there,

    My website address is https://theoneinamillionbaby.com/
I don’t have access to my site to FTP. I have seen that mentioned but have NO idea how to do that.

I tried on my phone and got the same message. I have cleaned the cache on my computer and no change.

    Thanks,

    Tessa

I’m currently trying to set up an FTP through bluehost, which is my hosting server.

I’m almost there but my FTP won’t connect. It’s coming up with this

Status: Connection attempt failed with “ECONNREFUSED – Connection refused by server”.
Error: Could not connect to server

theoneinamillbaby, I’m having the same problem. JetPack contacted me that both my sites were down and I should contact my host. I did, and BlueHost is also down. No way to contact them. I’m hoping this is the problem. Point to note: I’m no expert here either. I just know what I know because JetPack did its job.

I ended up getting an expert to go in and do the FTP thing and help me. I’m so out of my depth. In my case it was a Libsyn plugin that was acting up and she rewrote the script for that.
I hope you solve your problem too!

Just got word from JetPack I’m back up. And I can see my site!

BTW, a word on plugins. If you activate one and soon after that something goes wrong, deactive that plugin and check to see if your site reverted back to the way it used to be. If it does, the problem is the plugin. If it doesn’t, then it’s something else and time to call the “fire department!” Have a good weekend. So happy your problem is solved. Way to go, you!

Yeah I figured it was a plug in. But I couldn’t get to my dashboard or access anything to delete it. The woman who fixed it had to go through FTP and even setting that up gave me a headache!
