• I am still learning wordpress. I am using the 2023 theme. It took me some time to figure out how to get all the text, headers, links, background all correctly colored. I got it done and updated. But the crazy thing is, while it looks fine to ME in my editor, others are still seeing things that are not how I changed them, like a green background against my blue theme, and black typing where it should be blue.

At first, I thought it was a Caching issue, but it’s been over a day and the caches should have updated.

Example of the problem: In my editor, I changed all my colors to be harmonious and I removed the green background and the black type, but when not logged in or others visit the site those wrong colors are persisting despite my editor showing them changed.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • It looks like it could be a caching issue.

You can sort of force a non-cached page view by appending a search term to the end of your site URL, e.g. https://pickfetish.com/?s=pick and notice that the site looks quite different when not viewing a cached page.

I would recommend disabling the caching functionality/plugin until you are happy with your site design.

Looks like we where working on the same issue @uxl , I will tract my comment ??

Thank you folks. I see now that when going to the site it starts with the wrong colors and then very quickly changes to the right colors, could there be any other problem. I did disable the cache plugin.

It looks like you still have Jetpack Boost caching enabled, so you see the green gradient background very briefly from the jetpack cache, and then the inline styles of the site editor are loaded with the blue background.

Can you disable Jetpack Boost and see if the issue goes away?

That did it. After I finish editing can I reenable them and be ok? Or are they stuck?

I would always recommend that caching is not enabled while you are initially building/designing your site, as it can get very confusing trying to work out which styling is from where.

Once you are happy with your design, then yes go ahead and enable caching, but I would say only use one caching plugin. Multiple caching plugins can cause conflicts.

When activating the caching again it is important to completely clear/flush the old cache files so the cache starts again from a clean slate.

What free caching and perfomance plug in would be best for me that let’s me purge it?

My host doesn’t support purging cache right now and told me to get a plug in.

I can’t afford something that is not free yet.

Also, I add to my site frequently, should I disable caching when updating and then reenable every time?

I think most cache plugins have the option to purge the cache. There’s so many to pick from I cannot recommend one over another, sorry.

It depends… adding new content posts/pages etc you shouldn’t need to disable the caching. Making major design changes, yes probably a good idea to temporarily disable the caching whilst designing, and then flush the old cache when re-enabling.

    Thanks a mill.
