    Hello to everybody,

I’ve developed a WordPress website in a subfolder of one hosting service where I have already a WordPress installation in the root folder (I’ll call the domain relaitve to this hosting domain1).

I’ve purchased a new domain (I’ll call it domain2) and now I want to make appear the site placed in the subfolder of domain1 when somone digit on the url bar domain2.

I’ve requested to the hosting assistance to point the domain2 to the domain1 web hosting and they made it already but they said that can’t make that if someone is digiting domain2 users will be directed on the site in subfolder on domain1.

They said to me that is possible by implementing the .htacces file. Someone know how I can make possible that if visitors is digiting domain2 they can see the site on domain1 subfolder and see domain2 in the url bar?

    Thanks

  • This depends on your hosting.

If domain 1 is the domain in your other question (about WordFence), then you have a cPanel-based server, and the feature you need for this to work is called Addon Domains.

So confirm with your host if you have (or can have) the ADDON DOMAIN feature, which will allow you to have multiple domains and host multiple websites in the same cPanel hosting account.

Once you have it, you’ll use cPanel’s Addon-Domain feature to map the new domain to a sub-directoy on your account. Then you can use the newly-configured domain to setup WordPress (or if WordPress is installed already in the sudirectory, follow this guide to change the WordPress site address to the new domain name.)

    Good luck!
