Site remarkably slow with Nextgen 2.0.66.37

  • When activating the Nextgen plugin, my site gets extremely slow. It can take up to 30 seconds or more to have a page loaded. Sometimes I just get a 500 server error.
    Tested with tools.pingdom.com without plugin the site is faster then about 50% of the tested sites. With the plugin active the site is slower than 93% of the tested sites.
    The Theme I use is Atahualpa. My site is hosted wiht Oxilion in the Netherlands.
