  • S/he doesn’t have much content up there (only 4 nonsensical posts) from what I can see. Maybe s/he’s just using yours as a template while s/he gets started, much as you started with Kubrick and went from there.
I wouldn’t get your panties that twisted about it in any case. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery good sir.

I don’t know, I don’t feel flattered. Yes my site is based on Kubrick, but I’ve changed much of it to suit my needs including the page width, colours, nav bar, etc. And I’ve definitely tipped my hat to Michael on my CSS, Links page, and in a few posts. I’ll wait and see, try not to get too angry. But if you spend that much time trying to get your site to look like your own, it sucks to have someone come along and take it for themselves. Kind of defeats the purpose.

When does a ‘template’ you took from someone else become your own?
It seems pretty obvious to me that site is a test

When you edit the ‘template’ to fit your site. *shrugs* A template is exactly that, a template, the creator of the original template cannot claim that has his creation after someone has gone through the effort of editing/changing it. Reguardless he has a legitimate claim to be upset, he worked hard on something, and someone ripped it off. Doesnt matter if its a test site or not, its the point of it all. Netiquette is when you are going to use someone elses work, you at least ask them before you take it.

I can understand it, too. I’ve had my site, and sites of my clients, ripped off several times; some have even gone to the trouble of putting their names on my articles. Pretty obnoxious, especially as these are supposed to be web designers.
