  • Maybe because you have ~200megs of images loading? Which is like 100 times the weight a webpage should be for fast loading and mouse scrolling?

That’s like trying to drift a cement truck.

Try greatly reducing the file size and pixel depth of all of your images.

I’m talking about after they are all loaded or does that not make a difference?

I mean they are only thumbnails…I don’t see why thumbnails would be so hard to load. Is there a way to have a functional gallery and to keep the image size? Possibly a good plug in for what I’m trying to do? I stil would like users to be able to click on an image and view it in higher res as you can now.

Your browser is using hundreds of megs of RAM on your PC/Mac to display the page and try and scroll it; thats why it is slow. Each thumbnail is 2 megs; they should be ~50K or less.

You need to reduce the file size of the image before you upload it; then your thumbnails will be smaller in size. If you want full size high rez images, use a plugin that will correctly load Retina images only when needed.

Would you mind directing me to a plug in that will do that, please?

Also, these aren’t even close to full res images. They were exported only at 2048px, which is less than half of the size of my full res images. That’s why I thought I would be in the clear. However, if there is a plug in that will help me like you’re saying, that would be fantastic if you could direct me to one. Thank you for your help!

Unfortunately, it didn’t really help. Even downsizing the thumbnails to 80×80 didn’t do anything, actually, it made it worse.

UPDATE: Changing the gallery rows from 4 to 3 helped a ton.
