• I really like Better WP Security — it’s a great plugin.

However, my site was zipping along quite fast before I updated from 3.6.6 to 4.0.2. Now every page loads very slowly, from the login page to editing pages to the site itself. It feels as if something very resource-intensive is going on behind the scenes.

Am I the only one experiencing a site slowdown?

    Any suggestions?

I would like to add that it doesn’t appear to be a server problem, because we have another (non-WP) site on the same server and it’s still loading quite fast.

Wow, my site had almost ground to a complete halt, with no clear solution.

Then I discovered the solution: Deleted this plugin and voilà! The site was very fast again.

Sorry to see it go, but goodbye iThemes Security, hello All In One WP Security & Firewall. The plugin is very similar, but it doesn’t slow down my site.

Same here. Was afraid this would happen, so waited a bit before updating. Once I did it nearly halted my website. Deleted the plugin and made the same switch.

Yea I am pissed… at a time when my website should be fast… I look like an idiot at the TIFF festival because some fucking asshole can’t program right and get the updates right… my website was nice and fast before the upgrade to 4.0. Now it’s as slow as molasses in January… obviously a WordPress issue… I am so mad with no one to complain to at WordPress… you can’t even send an e-mail to complain regarding a fix…

I am starting to hate WordPress and their competitors is starting to look way better… than this bull shit. If it wasn’t for my other web developer I would never have taking on WordPress… just saying…

@ JCRP1967 you’re so right, 4.0 is nothing but FKN trouble.

am glad this has been brought up.. been re-saving images deleting plug-ins and it turns out it’s wordpress, what a joke!!
