Hi, I am currently trying to speed up a website I am working on:
    https://barriemortgagebroker.ca

    Currently it’s 60/100 mobile and 75/100 desktop.
Plugins I use for speed are:
    EWWW Image Optimizer
    GZIP Ninja Speed
    WP Super Cache
    WP Super Minify

At the above speeds I get quite a few “should fix” errors. So my question is this – I am thinking of using Speed Booster Pack by Tiguan, and I’m wondering if anyone knows of any conflicts etc. or if Speed Booster Pack replaces any of the above.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Ok, a few things:

    1. You’re forcing your site to HTTPS. Browsers do not load cached content over HTTPS, which means all of your optimization plugins are useless, especially WP Super Cache, as the caches are completely bypassed. Keep your site on HTTP and let the visitors force HTTPS via their browser settings if they want to.

    2. Site optimizer plugins use processing power, and processing power takes time. If you stack on tons of optimizer plugins, it’s possible to actually make your site slower. Offhand, you can get rid of GZIP Ninja Speed as WP Super Cache has its own GZIP feature you can enable. Beyond that, start with WP Super Cache and slowly implement other optimizers (being careful not to duplicate WPSC functionality) while constantly judging benefit vs. cost.

    3. Don’t use Google’s PageSpeed Insights. It’s quite broken, suggesting you turn on things which are actually on and such. Instead, use https://gtmetrix.com/ and https://www.webpagetest.org/ but first clear up 1 and 2.

Hi James, thanks for your help.

I will change the plugins as you have suggested and see what happens.

I had thought forcing HTTPS was a good thing, although I did not know it could not be cached – but makes sense. I will have to read up a little more on this obviously.

Thank-you also for the speed test site recommendations – gtmetrix has a nice comparison feature.

(BTW I did install Speed Booster Pack with the above noted plugins and it slowed the site down a bit.)

    You’re welcome!

(Yeah, Speed Booster Pack also duplicates functions of the above plugins, so I can see why the only thing that gave you was longer load times. ?? )
