• Hi Everyone

I have been running my site on WordPress for the last three years without any major problems:

    https://palacemag.co.uk

However, over the last few weeks updating my site has been a real drag as the admin/dashboard pages are really slow and the site download changed from a few seconds to over 10.

I’ve tested my site using firebug Net tool, pingtool and webpagetest.org, taken off most of my plug-ins, changed my facebook, flickr and twitter badges to clickable links fromt screenshots from my media library ( a handy tip if these badges are slowing your site down).

I’ve paid £25 for the pleasure of MaxCDN content delivery network, used W3 Total Cache which initially speeded my site up but a few hours later was even slower. So moved back to WP Supercache (with CDN enabled) which is not making a lot of difference.

Maybe I have high expectations but my site seems a lot slower than before I installed 3.1. My host is Godaddy, they assure me there are no problems at their end.

I have been getting the Silence is Golden index.php and have now installed the plugin to combat that.

Maybe I need to let each change of Supercache ‘bed in’?

Hopefully someone can advise me that I should not abandon all hope!

    Best regards

    Chris

  • You ever figure anything out? My site loads a lot slower than yours. I’m using w3tc and maxcdn and hosted on a dedicated server.
