Site Template Editor Not Saving

  • I am so very frustrated. I designed 4 websites that are currently live and, now with the updated version of 2023 and updated version of wordpress I can’t save any template additions on any site. I add a block in the template and save it, it gives me the red bar at top with “Saving failed.” Any assistance would be amazing you guys. Thanks

    Hi @pwalderzak08,

    I understand that when you add a specific block to a template on 6.3, you’re getting this error as soon as you try to save it.

    This is likely happening because a plugin is conflicting with this version.

    Can you confirm which block specifically has this error? Does this happen with all blocks (such as paragraph blocks)?

    We might need to try a conflict test, but if you could share more details of plugins you use on the block editor, this should be helpful.

    So I deactivated all the plugins and still got this error. It appears to happen when I try adding any type of block now. I tried paragraph, custom code, image, etc.

    @pwalderzak08 Is GoDaddy your hosting provider by any chance?

    If deactivating all plugins doesn’t resolve the issue, please refer to your hosting provider’s error log for more details. Your hosting support team will be well-equipped to assist you further.

    The funny thing is, I have already done that. The hosting company said they don’t see anything wrong on their end. No errors in debug mode. yeah.

    Same exact for me. My issue is withe the Home Template and the Pages template. I am not using Godaddy. I am using LiquidWeb. I have 150 websites with them, and have never had a problem like this.

    Could you please try to go to WP Admin > Dashboard > Updates, then try to re-install version 6.3 from there?

    Also, can you please enable the debug mode, so we can try to find erros from there?

    PS: Regarding the archived replies, I just want to clarify that while both issues might look similar, these can often be different “triggers” for this to happen, so that’s the reason that mods ask to create separate topics for each issue.

    Thanks Felipe. I am a web designer, so I have done hundreds of sites and have tried reinstalling wordpress, and debug which I said in an earlier comment. We have tried everything, like I said.

    Also, do you know if your hosting has any specific setting for this site? Some sites that face this issue have something like “Extra Web Security” enabled.

    As you already tested with all plugins deactivated, I wonder if it could be for this file permission warning. Have you checked if these specific site files have all the correct permissions?

    Also, were you able to check regarding any other security-related settings on your hosting? Especially any “Extra Web Security” enabled.

    One last thing: This all really looks like generally an environment/hosting issue… If nothing still works after that, I wonder if you could try to duplicate and create a copy of your site locally or on a different hosting to see if it works as expected. This should allow us to confirm that the issue is related to your specific environment.
