• Something strange that I can’t quite figure out. I’m using a child theme of twenty twelve and have centered my site title as well as changed the css for Impact font that is coded as both italic (oblique – have used both), bold, and have a subtle drop shadow on both the H1 and h2 parts of header site title. (Don’t have a link because it’s still on my local testing server.)

The issue – Chrome and Firefox look fine. With MIE, ver. 10 the far right character of my site title gets truncated every time a link is clicked. When I mouse over and see the hover characteristics, that truncation disappears until the next link is clicked. When I right click or use firebug, I see that in MIE the box for the site title isn’t large enough for the end of the oblique text. I’ve set “overflow to “visible” and yet there’s this strange truncation until mouse-over.

I’m curious – has anyone else hit this particular issue? (along with all the various MIE issues…) If so, is there a css fix or does this need to be addressed in the header.php file? I don’t want to monkey around with the way it looks in Firefox but the MIE issue just has me stymied…

  • IE is a primitive browser so don’t give it much thought. But still, even I’m curious to know a fix for it.

So true your point. I just hate that some clients insist on still using it, even when I beg and plead with them to upgrade to Firefox or Chrome. If allowed, I place a Firefox icon on every site I build with something like “This site optimized for Firefox” (Sounds better than “If this site looks bad, it’s probably because you’re using such a crappy browser.) If MIE developers would finally join the real world, it would save many of us some of the head banging now required with stylesheets.

I’m still not able to make this work, if anyone has a clue. It’s obviously the italic I’m using with the Impact (regular font with Impact will fit in the IE form) font in the site title, but have been able to make it display properly both status and with hover with the ie.css stylesheet for IE 8, yet nothing seems to clear up the truncation with IE 11.
