• I use filezilla to backup my wordpress site but at some point it just stops and i have to do it in smaller downloads which gets tedious. I use filezilla. Can you suggest any other ftp programs? or what might be wrong with filezilla? Can I not do it directly from my host?

who is the vendor hosting your website? it might be helpful to contact the vendor to ask about options.

I’ve never had filezilla fail on a download. Note, you’re only backing up files that way. You also need to backup the database.

What error do you get, if any?

Have you tried a plugin like updraft plus? It’s good for large sites and can back up to dropbox.

It just simply disconnects and stops transfer

what do you think of winscp ftp program? I just found from google. It looks popular . Is it widely used too?
I used filezilla for years without problem but lately for large amount of transfers it started to disconnect, and even after the update release
