I was trying to get into my site today and it will not load. The message I get is:
Safari cant open the page because the server where the page is located is not responding.

So I contacted GoDaddy (the host of my wordpress blog) he was able to pull up my site fine and he also made me run a trace route. He can clearly see that my computer is trying to connect with my site. I have also tried pulling it up on my cell phone and another computer in my house…..neither work. He seems to think the ISP needs to clear their cache. He suggested I call my ISP (Comcast) and I tell them what is going on…..in the meantime I put a message out on Facebook asking people if they can get into my website and what ISP they are using. Every comcast user can not get into my site, but other ISP’s can. I tell Comcast, but I can not get anywhere with them. I have cleared my history, cleared cache, restarted my computer and still will not work. Earlier today I got an update from apple that there is a new version of Mountain Lion, I updated that. Could that have anything to do with this, have I blocked comcast users somehow, or could this be something else?

    my website is loriwaddellphotography.com

    Thank you!
    Lori

  • You might try to reset the cable modem. Turn off the power for two minutes and turn it back on. This just checks one more thing and will only help you, not others. Sucuri can’t access your site either. Is my blog working accesses it and shows no problems.

There are 998 other sites on the server with you. https://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/web-sites-on-web-server/

You might want to check a couple and see if you can see them.

OK…..I turned the power to the cable modem off, and then back on. When I went to Is My Blog Working, it showed I did not have a current wordpress 3.5.1, so I downloaded it. But I can’t get into my wordpress site to update it. Then I went to yougetsignal.com and checked a few of those and can’t get into those as well. It listed as one of them having explicit content that may affect the filtering of other sites.
Do I need to see if my comcast ISP can get a different server for me?
And is there a way to access my wordpress login to install the version 3.5.1?

    Thank you for your help!

I wonder if somehow I deleted the cache associated with my wordpress?

How is there so many sites on a web server? Is this my site they are on? This is so strange sorry I have so many questions……

The only thing I can think of is going to a friend’s who doesn’t use Comcast or maybe a Kinko’s and rent a computer and update wp. I don’t think that is the problem though.

There is a lot on Google under – can’t connect to website with comcast
Seems to be a fairly common thing.

Those site share the server with you. GoDaddy has a lot of customers but I think it is just a matter of luck how many you share with. I am lucky. I have only 99 others with my host but I suppose that can change daily.

Thank you so much for your help! I sent a message to the person that was helping me at GoDaddy about there being 998 sites on the same server and how that can affect filtering (I saw one marked in red) that has explicit content? I am hoping he can move me to a different server, or help me to resolve the issue.

Thank you so much for all of your help, I will let you know what they tell me

    Lori,

If you’re still having connectivity issues, I’d like to research this further to find out why, especially if it’s only other Comcast customers. I know you sent in a traceroute to support, but if you could send me a new, recent one, that would help me. Please include the text from this forum post (if you wish) and copy the traceroute in a ticket here: https://go.me/aN – Please be sure you’re logged into your account before you submit the ticket. You can reply back to this thread with the ticket number and I will be able to locate your message and get it to the right team for review.

    Thanks!

    Hi Cj

So far (since Saturday) I have been able to see my site as well as other Comcast users in the area, it may have had something to do with the way Comcast was filtering the sites on the server? I will keep your information on hand if this happens again…..thank you so much for your reply!

    Thanks!
    Lori

Hi Everyone, I am having the same issue with my website today:

    https://morethanmoneycareers.com

The ‘server is not responding’ error message comes up from 7 different computers:
    2 tablets, 2 laptops (1 PC + 1 Mac) and 1 desktop (PC)
4 different browsers (IE, Safari, FF, chrome)
Ethernet or wireless does not matter.

I can access my site via my mobile device (AT&T)

I can’t access my website nor my wp admin panel via comcast. I have spent all day trying to solve this issue.

I have spent 20 min with godaddy this morning, and again this afternoon. Here is what I did with them:

GoDaddy rep made me try to access my site with megaproxy – I can see my homepage this way

GoDaddy rep made me go through the trace process twice, I sent him the output of each of the trace. He told me that all was fine on their end, and that it should therefore be an ISP issue. I called comcast and after 45 min or being passed around from dept to dept, no one could help me.

I have tried to unplug my modem for 2 minutes and replug it, nothing worked.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
