• My WordPress updated up to the most recent version, now I can’t access the site and I get the message

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING in /hermes/waloraweb040/b1486/moo.bellavitasnoqualmiec/wp-includes/functions.php on line 584

I downloaded all the old files onto my computer just in case. I am guessing this might have something to do with the theme outdated so it is not compatible with the new version. I tried reuploading the functions.php file but it didn’t work. I need to keep the theme which was uploaded way back in 3.4, so how can I go about fixing this while keeping the current theme?

  • The site looks great, and seems to be functioning fine. I would definitely contact the theme author about that warning (premium theme responses are usually pretty quick), but if the dashboard is functioning OK then you can carry on.

One thing I notice is that the warning states this is echelon 2. Is there an original version of echelon in your themes directory?

I had multiple downloads on my computer so the file renamed itself that before I uploaded it, would that affect anything?

I see. The only thing that might happen is that any images you had that were linked to the previous file path of /wp-content/echeolon/ may not automatically appear when using the /wp-content/echelon-2/ file path for your theme. If that is the only echelon theme in your /themes/ directory, I would rename the directory to echelon
