The WordPress site I admin was working fine this morning. I added some content but did not update any themes, plugins, etc. WordPress is up to date. This evening only the front page will load; all navigation links give me a white screen. The site is at sfcanada.org. I’m really stumped about what’s happening.

In General settings, the home and site URLs are greyed out and show https://northbynotwest.com/SFCanada-WP , which is the proper folder and the way they’ve always been, and this is the home address in the upper left corner of the dashboard. However, no pages from the navigation menu on the site will load–for instance, https://northbynotwest.com/SFCanada-WP/?page_id=31 gives a white screen. However, if I simply replace part of this in my browser address bar and make it https://sfcanada.org/SFCanada-WP/?page_id=31, the page will load perfectly. I made no changes today that could account for this.

I’ve tried adding/changing “define” lines in my wp-config file; I’ve tried the “update_option” fix in my functions file. Neither made any difference.

I’ve just updated three plugins and my theme. None of these made a difference either. Well, the theme update messed up something in the display but that’s the least of my worries right now. It’s the URL problem I need to fix first. Not sure what to do next. Any help would be appreciated.

A completely blank screen means that PHP is crashing, typically due to a function conflict introduced by a plugin or theme.

Try deactivating all plugins. If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

If that does not resolve the issue, try switching to the Twenty Sixteen theme to rule-out a theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).

Thanks, James! But if it were a plugin or theme, the pages would not work with the amended URL either, would they?

If you look at the latter two links in my OP, the second works perfectly, while the first yields the white screen. A plugin or theme issue should affect both the same, shouldn’t it?

No, it doesn’t necessarily mean it has to affect both. A completely blank screen means that PHP is crashing, typically due to a function conflict introduced by a plugin or theme. (and that conflicting function is only being triggered in that specific circumstance)
