Site was hacked, how do I get my old content to display?
-
Hi, I’ve tried searching for the answer to solve my predicament but have yet to find one. Would appreciate it if someone can point me in the right direction.
A site I had set up was compromised – it had a weak password. The ‘hacker’ had left a stupid message as a splash screen so I wanted to disable the site asap.
I’ve got the site working now but none of the old content is being displayed. It’s just a blank template. All the files are still on the server and the database looks like it has everything intact.
So which files do I need to adjust to ‘point’ to the old content?
Here’s what I’ve done so far in chronological order:
Deleted the index.php file
Downloaded the .htaccess file and then deleted from the server.
(Downloaded all files from the server as a backup)
Made a new index.php file (copied from another site) and uploaded to server.
Made a new user in the existing database.
Made a new wp-config file with the newly created user and new secret keys. Uploaded to server. At this point wordpress asked me to create a new wordpress username an password and install. (although all the wp files are still there on the server)
Re-uploaded the .htaccess file.
So how do I make all the old pages and posts display? Thanks for any help!
