• I have been away for several weeks. Today I logged onto my blog, https://thisgivesmehope.com, only to discover everything since October 10, 2014 has been wiped out, including the theme I was using, all posts, etc. This is the first real problem I have ever had with WordPress in all the years I have been using it. What happened? How do I get things restored?

  • Sounds like you should ask your hosting about this – WordPress itself can’t do that.

I’m in the middle of an online conversation with them now. Fingers crossed!

Definitely a host issue, affecting all my sites. Sigh. Fingers crossed they can undo the problem they created…and soon! They’re working on it.

FWIW, at least two other people have posted who are apparently in the same situation on Bluehost – hope they can fix it :)!

Sigh. Thanks, WPYogi, I hope so too. They’ve been completely reliable for years. Whatever the issue is, it wiped out 5 months of posts on all my sites. I’m going offline for the night, with a good book that will keep my mind from returning repeatedly to the mess. ??

Yeah, so sorry. I’m guessing you don’t have your own backups?

Hope you get some sleep – it always helps even if it doesn’t fix the problem.

You’re so right, WPyogi – I back up everything else like crazy so at least have the files if I have to re-create the Web sites. But I’ve been remiss in the online world, where all these years of great service lulled me into complacency. BlueHost still doesn’t know what caused the massive failure. They are “still working on it”.
