    Hey,
    How are you doing?
I have a question about how the site’s overall statistics are calculated.
When I check my total sites statistics number it does not matches to the specific numbers in the posts list. For example it’s showing 2 visitors and 20 pageviews (https://prnt.sc/yutj1t – the numbers here are the same as in Koko’s dashboard), but if I’m counting every post by itself I’m getting 11 visitors and 19 pageviews (https://prnt.sc/yutkev – the numbers are are the same as in Koko’s dashboard).

How it’s possible that the numbers are not matching?

As I see it you are maintaining separate stats for posts and site (overall).
From my understanding, in the “site_stats” you’re recording unique visitors with the help of cookies and your algorithms (that is why you’re always require cookies to better record unique visitors).
On the other hand you’re also recording total pageviews and unique visitors regardless of uniqueness in the “post_stats” database table. That’s why when you count individual page / post visitors you will always find more than unique visitors because unique discards repeat visitors (same case with pageviews).

I’d really appreciate your support here.
Also please let me know how can I donate you guys.

    Thanks a lot,
    Bar

    Hi,
I’ve been waiting for your message.
I need to fix it as fast as possible.

    Please help ??

    Hello @tovbar,

It is most likely because the plugin also counts pageviews for pages not explicitly listed in the “Pages” table on the bottom left of your dashboard page.

For example, if you have a homepage listing your most recent posts then viewing that page will add a pageview to your site stats, but not to any of your singular pages.

In that same light, if you’re adding up visitors from the Pages table to get a total, then you are counting the same visitor more than once.

The site statistics show your total number of unique visitors and pageviews (for any page on your website, including pages not explicitly tracked), whereas the page statistics show the total number of unique visitors and pageviews for that specific page.

Does that help explain the difference in numbers?

    Hey Danny,
    Thanks for your reply.
Not quite sure I understand, because I have only 3 pages in my website ((https://prnt.sc/zq9jo2) – and all of them appear on the “Pages” list (https://prnt.sc/zq9lr7). Therefore I don’t have any other pages Koko can track. Also my website is offline and I’m the only one visit it, and I visit only those pages.

    Hello @tovbar,

Do you have any categories or tags or other custom taxonomies on your website? Or a plugin that might use a custom (non-existing) page, e.g. for showing a preview of something?

    No tags.
I do have categories but I never enter them (and because it’s only me so no one else does).
I have Ninja Popups plugin but the issue happens even if I’m not opening the popup using the button. Same thing with my posts.

    Hello @tovbar,

Your last screenshot does show some possible weird numbers.

Adding up your total pageview counts from the Pages table in the bottom left matches the total number of pageviews shown in the “Total pageviews” section, so that looks about right if those are truly the only pages on your website.

The number of visitors is a bit strange though. I can’t replicate this locally myself. Do you have a live version of this issue occurring somewhere so that I can browse around the site and see what tracking data is being generated?

    Yes of course Danny,
Can I send you the login details to [email protected]?

    Hello @tovbar,

Yes please – although I can probably see enough without login details by just looking at the call to the collection endpoint. But looking at the dashboard will definitely speed things up, so if possible that would be great.

    Hey Danny,
I just checked and it seems like you still didn’t log to your account.
Just wanted to confirm that everything is ok.
    Thanks

I’ll ping him on our internal chat. I expect Danny to make time for this on Tuesday, hope that’s ok.

    Hey Lap,
Yes of course, I don’t want to bother you guys on your weekend.
Thanks for the update and for letting him know I’m waiting.

    Enjoy your weekend!
